Mary Kay Stein is President of MD Communications, a biomedical writing and editing company in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She is the eldest of Mary M. Dunlap’s two daughters and, just like her mother, is a graduate of the University of Kansas (journalism). After working with and heading three national medical journals, Mary Kay started MD Communications in 1984. She is the author of continuing education textbooks for nurses, including Caring for the AIDS Patient, The Spectrum of HIV Infections, Lifetime Weight Control, Child Abuse, Cardiovascular Disease, and Substance Abuse: Guidelines for Professionals. She is also a professional photographer and owner of Desert Light Photography, now in Albuquerque. Mary Kay grew up in Corrales, New Mexico, and knew many of her mother’s fellow attorneys and clients.
